Festival Types and Requirements

Open Festival: any voicing, any level; performance time may not exceed 12 minutes; enrollment minimum 5, maximum 8.

Novice Festival: any voicing (host may specify men's, women's or mixed); novice/beginning ability level; performance time may not exceed 12 minutes; enrollment minimum 5, maximum 8.

Advanced Festival: any voicing (host may specify men's, women's or mixed); selections performed must be in contrasting styles from different historical periods, utilizing at least two different languages; at least one selection must be performed a cappella.  Performance time may not exceed 12 minutes; enrollment minimum 5, maximum 8.

Madrigal/Chamber Choir Festival: SATB voicing; host may specify ability level (open, novice, advanced), maximum group size=32.  Performance time may not exceed 12 minutes; enrollment minimum 5, maximum 8.

Clinic: performance time will include 10 minutes performing and 10 minutes on-stage work for the adjudicator; there will be only one adjudicator; enrollment minimum 4, maximum 6.  A regular festival may be changed to a clinic by the appropriate Vice President with the approval of the host and assigned directors if regular festival enrollment does not meet the minimum one month prior to the festival date.
