WHAT IS THE HONOR CHOIR SYMPOSIUM?

A virtual conference to bring together talented high school choral singers to learn and be inspired on Saturday, November 21 from 9:00am to 12:00pm (PST). We will be bringing in choral conductors from around the country to speak to our students on topics that will be relevant to high school students. We will have workshops on topics including student leadership, building community in the classroom, and choral yoga. The event will also include solo masterclass and a virtual reading session. Students selected to participate in the SCVA High School Honor Choir Symposium will receive a t-shirt and physical copies of music ahead of the event. The Solo Masterclass will consist of students selected from the audition video submissions.

  2. Calendar conflicts are NOT an acceptable reason for missing or dropping Honor Choir. This includes work schedule, athletic games or practices, SAT tests, school choir or drama events, etc. We encourage every student to check the dates above before applying to audition.
  3. Students who must, out of extreme necessity (such as a death in the family or a serious medical problem, or other matter of an equally serious nature) drop out of the Honor Choir Symposium after being accepted are required to provide a signed, written note from their parents and from their school choral director stating the reasons for the drop out.

California All-State High School Honor Choir

A Collaborative Effort of CCDA and SCVA

The SCVA Honor Choir Symposium is a separate event for our students in SCVA. In a normal year, the audition scores received by a student auditioning for SCVA Honor Choir would be used for All-State Honor Choir consideration. This year, our events will not be sharing audition scores so students who wish to participate in the CA All-State Honor Choir will need to submit a separate audition application and undergo the audition process using the parameters set forth by CCDA. Click here to learn more.

We highly encourage all students who are auditioning for the SCVA Honor Choir Symposium to also audition for the CA All-State Honor Choir.
